Vision Zero South West has worked alongside the Department for Transport’s Project Apex, National Highways and Devon & Cornwall Police to pilot the development of a hazard awareness simulator – the first-of-its-kind in the UK.

Post-crash care is a key part of the Safe System approach, aimed at reducing deaths and serious injuries through rapid, effective, and equitable response after a collision.

Local councils and National Highways manage roads in Devon and Cornwall, with responsibilities guided by the Highways Act 1980 and Road Traffic Act 1988. Their work increasingly follows the Safe System approach.
