We know cyclists are one of the most vulnerable road users here in Devon and Cornwall – and nothing highlights this more than the story of Jean-Pierre De Villiers.
While cycling in Devon, Jean Pierre suffered very serious injuries when he was hit by a drunk, uninsured and disqualified driver.
Speaking to Vision Zero, Jean Pierre gave this poignant message: “Road users need to have mutual respect and mutual understanding that everyone is just trying to get from A to B.”
Today, Transport Secretary Grant Shapps said a new, updated Highway Code would give greater priority to both cyclists and pedestrians. You can find out more about the plans here: https://bbc.in/3fcsEv4
